Accessibility

Her Vitals is built for women looking into their health, hormones and supplements who want clear, plain-English answers, often on a phone. This page explains the standard we aim for, the features that help, and how to tell us if something is hard to use.

Our aim

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. We are not perfect, and we keep finding and fixing issues.

Features to help you

  • Skip to main content. A "Skip to main content" link is the first thing you reach when you press Tab.
  • Labelled site search. A labelled search box sits in the header, and the search page lets you search and browse every guide, review and tool.
  • Site index. The site index lists every page in one place.
  • Plain-English glossary. The glossary explains the health and supplement terms we use.
  • Keyboard and screen readers. The site works with a keyboard, and pages use clear headings, labelled form fields and page landmarks.

Colours

We do not use colour alone to show whether something is good or bad; tables and labels say it in words too. We do not offer a second colour scheme. If you need different colours or more contrast, your browser zoom and your device's contrast and colour-filter settings work on this site.

Making reading easier

  • Zoom. Use your browser zoom (Ctrl and + on Windows, Cmd and + on a Mac, or pinch to zoom on a phone) to make text bigger.
  • Read aloud. Your device or browser read-aloud feature works on this site, for example VoiceOver, TalkBack, Narrator or your browser's Read aloud.
  • Site index. If menus are awkward, the site index gives you every page as one list of links.

Known limitations

  • Calculators and tools. Most of our free tools need JavaScript to work out results, so they may not work if JavaScript is turned off or blocked.
  • Wide tables. Some comparison and data tables are wider than a phone screen and scroll sideways.
  • Printable PDFs. Some printable downloads, such as symptom checklists, are PDFs and may not work as well with screen readers as the web pages. If you need one in another format, email us and we will try to help.

Report a problem

If anything on the site is hard to read or use, please email hello@hervitals.co.uk or see our contact page. Tell us the page address, what went wrong, and the device, browser or assistive technology you were using, and we will try to fix it.
